A Little Bit About Me...
Hello! My name is Julia. I am a college student living in Nashville, TN. I am majoring in music. And for the time being I am hoping to grow my jewelry business, because making jewelry is one of my favorite things to do, so why not make money while I am at it? I have always been one to take on new hobbies even if I have no past experience in that field. Most of these hobbies stemmed from my love of crafting. My jewelry making began three years ago, at summer camp, making friendship bracelets from embroidery thread, that led to embroidering clothing, and a few years later led to earring making. After having multiple peers tell me that I could easily sell my creations, I finally caved and started my business, "Jules Julery".

The Background
At college I have met some amazing friends, some of which are obsessed with fun and cute polymer clay earrings. We were walking through a farmer's market one day and we noticed that some polymer clay earrings were selling for $30, that's when I realized that I could make them myself, and give them to my friends for free. With my friends support and encouragement, I bought some clay and an earring kit from Hobby Lobby and started making them. Eight months later, I am selling them from my business and am enjoying every second of it. |
The Details
In order to begin the actual creating part, I had to get all of the supplies, which was a process in itself. Once I had collected the necessities, I began creating. My learning process consisted of trial and error. I learned what looked good and what people liked. Each earring is handmade and intricately detailed. I make my earrings in small batches so that I can spend more time on each pair but also so I can make more designs. Each batch of earrings can take me from 2-4 hours. It all depends on how detailed the design is and how much time I have to just sit and work on them without getting distracted. |
Step-by-Step Process
1. Think up a design 2. Pick out the clay 3. Roll out each color 4. Pick out the cutters 5. Cut out the shapes from the clay slab 6. Add the design on top (smaller cut-outs, texture, removing dust or dirt from clay) 7. Bake in the oven 8. Sand down all the edges and drill holes 9. Assemble the earrings 10. Place on stamped earring card 11. Package for the buyer 12. Ship package |
